It’s been a long time coming, but Vin Diesel has finally gotten another Riddick movie off the ground. David Twohy is involved again too, and as he did with the first two films he’ll write and direct. The difference this time around is that they’ll ditch all the galactic implications which muddied up the first movie and do something more stripped down, something more like the first movie Pitch Black, something which focuses more specifically on the character of Riddick. read this entry »

A few more small tidbits concerning the upcoming Riddick sequel we told you about here have popped up online. This time from IESB They say:
the new Riddick film will be more down and dirty with less “fantasy epic stuff” to deal with. A bounty hunter/space pirate type of story line is expected. The film will have a capped budget of around $35 million.
It sounds like they’re scaling it back from the epic, over the top scale of the last Riddick movie. Actually I think that’s the way to go. Much as I liked Chronicles of Riddick, the epic fantasy elements of the film are what worked the least. The best scene in the entire movie is the opening, with Riddick facing off against a handful of bounty hunters, not the later stuff when he’s fighting massive numbers of CGI armies in a lavish palace.
With Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious hitting theaters soon, don’t be surprised if we get some sort of official announcement concerning the next Riddick installment soon.

Until tonight I thought Vin Diesel and I were the only two people on the planet who might actually want to see another Riddick movie. The last one, Chronicles of Riddick wasn’t exactly a box office sensation. But it seems another movie may actually happen.
In an interview here, Ian Stevens, one of the head honchos in charge of the Riddick video game series drops this throwaway line: “New Riddick films are in the works.”
They are? Where? How? He could be talking about more of those direct-to-dvd animated movies they were producing for awhile, but tonight I’m feeling optimistic, and he doesn’t offer any clarification, so I’m going with. Could another Riddick movie happen? Does anyone besides Vin and me actually want it?
According to Stevens, the Riddick franchise has found new life on DVD and in videogames. It is this popularity which may be what’s prompting the push for another entry, despite the poor box office performance of the second film.
Vin Diesel’s futuristic, summer sci-fi thiller Babylon A.D. has it’s first official, domestic trailer. It’s better than you’d expect, if you’ve had the misfortune to sit through any of Diesel’s other recent work. If the music in it sounds familiar, it’s because they ripped it from Requiem for a Dream. It’s only a temp soundtrack for advertising purposes. Here’s the trailer:
Babylon A.D. has a new teaser trailer. Unfortunately, it’s in French. Yet even in French, it kicks the ass of that somewhat lackluster teaser trailer we got a few weeks ago here. Take a look:

Vin Diesel’s upcoming Sci Fi movie Babylon A.D. has its first trailer. In this case it is an international trailer which means, if the rumors are to be believed, that what’s in this trailer may bear absolutely no resemblance to the movie we see in the United States. Apparently the European version of the film will be a full 70 minutes longer.
Regardless, for now this is the only trailer we’ve got. Take a look, and find out what Vin Diesel will be up to in theaters this summer:
