The complete score for Tron: Legacy has been leaked online. It’s done by Daft Punk, the world’s premiere (and perhaps only current) electronica band. They weren’t hired just because they often like to dress in glowing outfits. Aside from the excellent trailer which was released online minutes afterward here, nothing particularly earthshattering happened at the TRON: Legacy Comic Con panel. Last year they blew our minds with the first ever images from the film, but now we’ve seen two trailers and tons of images and it’s really just a waiting game until the movie gets released.
That said, the cast was there and any time you get a chance to hang out with Jeff Bridges, it’s worth your time. After the jump we have a gallery of more than 60 images from the Tron: Legacy panel. Tron: Legacy looks good, but what looks almost as good as the movie, are the toys. We’ve shown you some of the more high dollar toys on this site before, but Disney has unveiled their full product line of more affordable Tron: Legacy tie-in items. They’re all, fully awesome.

It’s Olivia’s turn. Garret Hedlund, as the movie’s lead Sam Flynn, was the first Tron: Legacy actor to get his own poster art. Olivia’s the movie’s female lead, so now it’s her turn. I’m still holding out for a Jeff Bridges poster. Make it happen Disney.
There’s been no shortage of insanely cool posters and banners for Tron: Legacy but the one above is the first to really feature a clear shot of any of the characters faces. It’s perfect. As a follow-up, I’m hoping for one featuring Jeff Bridges. For now, enjoy looking at Garrett Hedlund, the star of Tron: Legacy.
The buzz surrounding director Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Legacy is already palpable, and the movie’s still months away. After Disney’s big, planned, Comic Con promotion, it’s sure to reach fever pitch, but Kosinski’s not waiting around. He’s already lining up his next sci-fi project. Here’s what THR says he’s up to:
New Regency is developing “Archangels,” a sci-fi spec from newcomer Andrew Will for “Tron Legacy” helmer Joe Kosinski (pictured) to direct. Ridley and Tony Scott will produce via their Scott Free banner along with Kosinski.
The script is set in the near future and is described as a “Bourne”-style thriller crossed with alien elements. The protagonist is part of an elite force that is tasked with tracking aliens who get past Earth’s defense system.
It’s worth noting that he’s also supposed to be developing a remake of The Black Hole. That one actually makes more sense, since it means continuing to work with Disney on revitalizing an outdated studio sci-fi property. I’m willing to bet he gets that going first, but we’ll see where things stand after Legacy. Who knows, it could suck and maybe we won’t to see more of him? Nah, that’s impossible. It’s Tron: Legacy.
Sure everything we’ve seen from it has looked really cool, but beyond being certain that it’ll be visually interesting, I haven’t been entirely certain that Tron: Legacy would be good. After all the original movie, much as I love it, was kind of weak on story at times and let’s face it, the guy they’ve hired to direct this new Tron has never directed a movie before. So a wait and see approach seemed prudent, at least until now. Now I’m certain: This may be one of the best movies of the year.
I’m certain because EW reports that Pixar was involved in writing the script. Specifically Brad Bird (writer of The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille) and Michael Arndt (writer of Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3) were hired to beef up the existing Legacy script. Brad Bird’s involvement should be especially exciting to anyone familiar with his work. He has a long history of making everything he touches better. read this entry »
