Green Lantern May Be The First Superhero Without Underwear

green lantern movieAccording to a rumor on Slashfilm, Ryan Reynolds won’t wear a costume while playing Green Lantern. Instead they have him running around the set in a motion capture suit which they’ll digitally replace with some sort of computer generated outfit in the film. They explain:

I’ve heard that when the cg is complete, the suit will look like a manifestation of his power. And while I couldn’t confirm this, I’ve heard that DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has seen the designs and given them his blessing.

The suit is lined with white LEDs, which I initially thought might be used to give a practical glow (kind of like how Billy Crudup wore blue LEDs to give the actors around Dr. Manhattan a blue glow in Watchmen), but I’ve since been told might just be for mo-cap tracking purposes.

New Video Clip From Iron Man: Tony Stark Flies

The movie doesn’t take off until May 2nd, but you can see Iron Man fly right now. Check out Tony Stark in his first suited test flight, via the clip from his upcoming film below:

Could Hayden Chirstensen Be JLA’s Superman? Nope.

superman-095jit4.jpgHold on, don’t freak out out over that story title. We’re not sure if it’s true. But that’s the rumor from our sister-wives over at Cinema Blend. They’ve got a scooper who claims to have plied Justice League movie cast member Adam Brody with beer in a Vancouver bar, and gotten him to spill the beans on what’s up with the movie.

Among the things he told her:

- Hayden Christensen is playing Superman
- The title of the film is Justice League is Mortal
- Adam Brody is The Flash
- Armie Hammer is Batman
- They’re shooting in British Columbia

For the full story, click over to our boys at CB.

UPDATE! Looks like this one has already been debunked. Hayden’s people told our people that he won’t be in JLA. What a relief. Full story also at CB.

Giant Freakin Update – BSG, Bionic Woman, Terminator, Fantastic Four, Sci Fi Channel

gfr Giant Freakin Update BSG, Bionic Woman, Terminator, Fantastic Four, Sci Fi ChannelHere we go again, stomping through all the science fiction related blinking lights I’ve missed covering (probably because I was reading Timothy Zahn) over the last week.

Laser blasts:

- NBC’s Bionic Woman series is now officially canceled. Anyone crying? It’s not like it was any good. Slow motion run into obscurity!

- The Andromeda Strain is being remade… yet again. This time it’s being done by A&E as a two night miniseries, which you can see some time this spring. They have a trailer for it up right here

- The Fantastic Four movie franchise is dead, and will now live on only in the impending Silver Surfer spin-off. Chris Evans, who plays the Human Torch told MTV that they won’t do another one. “I’m assuming that one is a closed book,” he says.

Iron Man Videogame Trailer

Videogames based on movies are always a dicey proposition. Most of the time they’re minimum effort cash-ins meant to suck up any money left floating around out there after the movie is released and drums up interest in whatever property it is they’re leeching off of. So it’s buyer beware with Sega’s upcoming Iron Man game, being made based on the movie. That said, the game’s first trailer is here and it looks surprisingly good. Watch:

Iron Man’s Super Bowl Performance

The Iron Man movie got an awesome new trailer tonight. Everything I see from this movie leaves me speechless… and I don’t even really like the character. This trailer, like every other Iron Man trailer, will blow your little sci-fi geek mind. Watch it:
