When the Sci-Fi Channel changed their name to SyFy, most assumed it was so they could start showing more wrestling. But apparently “SyFy” is some sort of code for “government employees investigating weird occurences”. SyFy has set about producing all sorts of new, science fiction related programming but… for some bizarre reason… it all seems to be centered around this same, X-Files knockoff theme.
Some of them are entertaining, like Eureka, others are Warehouse 13. Here’s their latest entry in the odd cops investigate freaky stuff genre: Haven. read this entry »

The LA Times has posted four new images from Christopher Nolan’s surreal, upcoming sci-fi movie Inception. By the way, even though it’s release is drawing close, no one still has a clue what it’s about. Here’s the LA Times best guess at explaining it, along with the new photos.
The movie may be Hollywood’s first existential heist movie, and though that may not sound like typical fare for the air-conditioning months, Warners and Legendary Pictures are banking on the movie catching on as a brainy “Mission: Impossible” by way of “The Matrix.” In other words, the globe-trotting movie may have had its subconscious baggage packed by Sigmund Freud, but it also carries a passport stamped by Ian Fleming. DiCaprio says Nolan is the perfect director to turn that unlikely combination into a July hit.

Milla Jovovich first came to the attention of most sci-fi geeks in the better than it gets credit for Luc Besson outer space action flick The 5th Element. In it she played the frequently naked and most often scantily clad Leeloo opposite Bruce Willis. Since then Milla’s gone on to become a genre staple, kicking ass in all sorts of science fiction movies and delivering dependably dangerous hotness.
Now she’s probably known best for the Resident Evil series, in which she wandered into a near future, wore Alice’s red dress, and fought off hordes of ravenous zombies over and over again. She’ll do it one more time this summer in Resident Evil: Afterlife and with the release of the movie’s first trailer still fresh in our minds, and the first ever 3D Milla soon to be in front of our faces, now’s the perfect time to examine her body… of work. Spend some time with Milla in our carefully chosen gallery of supremely hot Sci-Fi Siren photos right here: read this entry »

The last time we saw Doctor Who, not only had he regenerated into Matt Smith, but he was spinning out of control in an apparently damaged and broken Tardis. There’s a reason for that: They’ve redesigned it.
Once the Tardis crash lands, it’ll be rebuilt, and now we know what the revamped time-traveling police box will look like. Check out images of the all new, rebuilt Tardis right here: read this entry »
Disney unveiled Tron 2 today at the San Diego Comic Con. Scratch that, they unveiled Tron: Legacy, since that’s what they’ve decided to call it. Below is a ton of amazing concept art from the movie which was shown at the panel. Feast your eyes on this:
All of it looks utterly amazing. One very minor point of concern though. Most of the vehicles look like they have lights inside them shining out. One of the cool, and very different things about Tron was that it didn’t look like the lightcycles or the people had lights inside them or on them… they looked like they were lights. It’s a subtle difference, one which, as awesome, amazing and eye-popping as these images are, I don’t think they’ve quite captured. Still it’s early, this is only concept art and I can’t wait to see where they go with it.
