dollhouseDollhouse may have been cancelled, but that doesn't mean Joss Whedon is out of ideas for series' star Eliza Dushku. They're getting back together for a movie.

Duhsku tells Hollywoodlife that they're plotting an unspecified feature film together, somewhere down the road.

Dushku says:

I would say that we would [be working on something new very soon]! I think we’re going to work on a kickass feature together that we’ve been thinking about for a few years.

dollhouseWe've all seen this coming for awhile. Ratings have been sinking and even the interest of hardcore fans has begun to wane. The writing was on the wall and yep, Joss Whedon's sci-fi TV series Dollhouse has been cancelled by Fox.

THR says the eleventh episode of the show's thirteen episode season and Fox has committed to airing all of the thirteen episodes planned. So there's still more Dollhouse to come on television, but once it's over, it's over.

Series creator Joss Whedon reacted to the news on the fan site Whedoneseque saying: more...

joss Joss Whedon Is Abandoning Television For GoodAfter the low ratings debut of yet another one of his well-crafted television series, I don't think it'd surprise anyone to hear that mastermind of under appreciated sci-fi programming, Joss Whedon might be ready to call it quits on the whole television thing. And it seems that's just what he's doing, though the failure of of Dollhouse this past Friday has absolutely nothing to do with it.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, days before the Dollhouse premiere, Whedon talked about his intention of abandoning TV in favor of web content. After all, he had tremendous success with his Dr. Horrible series mid-last year. Why bother with the networks?

dollhouse0945 Dollhouse Is A Ratings Flop, Whedon Fails AgainJoss Whedon has failed again. Here’s yet another Whedon series on the fast track to cancellation. Dollhouse’s premiere last night was the lowest debut of any scripted television series this season, except for NBC’s already cancelled Crusoe. That’s right, Dollhouse barely beat fraking Crusoe.

According to THR, Dollhouse was seen by only 4.7 million viewers on Friday night, earning a miserable 2.0 share. It got trounced by nearly everything up against it, including ABC’s awful Supernanny which had 8.5 million viewers. Who watches Supernanny, and is there any way we can send them to the moon where they'll no longer pollute our air with their stupidity? Forget CO2, this is a far worse kind of pollution.

Pairing it with rapidly sinking Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles isn’t helping. The return of TSCC didn’t fare much better. Fox’s Friday night block of geek focused programming seems ready made for one of those notorious, quick, Fox cancellations. It’s a bad day to be a sci-fi geek. With Battlestar Galactica soon to leave the airwaves and nothing else worthwhile on the horizon, we’d better stock up on DVDs.

dollhouse123 Review: Joss Whedons DollhouseDollhouse has one big, glaring problem right off the bat. Eliza Dushku can't act. This issue is especially evident in the show's debut episode which is, to say the least, less action-oriented than some later installments promise to be. Maybe we won't notice that Eliza looks like a deer in headlights when she's reciting drama-heavy lines, if she's doing it while enaged in scantily-clad, lingerie karate. Tonight though, there were fewer physical punches thrown than emotional ones. Dollhouse isn't playing to her strengths... whatever those are.

Heavy on emotional development, the debut episode of Joss Whedon's new girls kick ass show asked Dushku to give a performance with real depth, depth Dushku doesn't seem to have in her. But at least we've gotten the introductions out of the way and we know what's going on. Eliza Dushku plays Echo, one of several exceedingly sexy people who live in a mysterious, lavish place called the "Dollhouse". While inside she has no memories, no personality. She stays that way until she's needed by the Dollhouse's owners, who hire out the services of their dolls to wealthy millionaires. When one of the dolls gets a job, she's imprinted with the perfect personality and knowledge to pull that job off. When she's done, that personality is wiped leaving her a blank slate awaiting her next job. more...

felicia Doctor Horribles Felicia Day Will Guest On Dollhouse! If you don't know who Felicia Day is, then I can't help you. But if you tuned in to Joss Whedon's fantastic web series Doctor Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, then you know her as the beautiful, red-haired object of Doctor Horrible's unrequited affections. You're also probably in love with her.

If you're in love with her, then good news. Last night on her Twitter feed Felicia revealed that she'll soon be working with Whedon again. Joss's new show Dollhouse debuts on Fox television tonight, and should it survive until mid-season, expect to see Ms. Day in it. She says, "For those inquiring minds, I got the ok today to confirm that I'm going to be on an episode Dollhouse later in the season! So exciting!"

She should fit perfectly into the Dollhouse universe. The show is the latest creation from Whedon, the mind behind underrated, but fantastic shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly. Dollhouse focuses on female spies who, have their memories wipes so they can be used as weapons. Be there for the show's premiere tonight, boost the ratings, and keep an eye out for Felicia later in the season.

dollhouse I know a lot of people are upset that Joss Whedon's new sci fi spy series Dollhouse has been dumped on Friday nights. The prevailing wisdom is that nobody watches TV on Friday because they're out getting drunk and picking up whores. I don't buy it.

Speaking as a lifelong dork, my Friday nights aren't particularly busy. Let's face it, nerds, dorks, geeks, we're the audience for this show. Newsflash: We're home. Putting Dollhouse on Thursday nights isn't going to somehow suck in the American Idol crowd who is out barhopping on Friday nights. Whether it's Friday or Thursday or Monday they weren't going to tune in anyway. Don't worry Joss, the rest of us will. If that's not a big enough audience for the show, then give it up. That audience doesn't exist.

So line up fellow geeks and check out a sweet new, Grindhouse-style promo for Fox's new Dollhouse/Sarah Connor Chronicles Friday nights. Now we have something to do while you backwards hat assholes are out getting laid. See it all more...

dollhouseFox Television announced it’s upcoming programming lineup this week. Among the new shows on their list, is as expected, Joss Whedon’s new series Dollhouse. Like everything Joss Whedon has ever done, it’s about a really hot girl who kicks ass. Joss kind of has issues. I picture him spending his evenings at home in a machine mask.

Lucky for us, his obsession with hot girls beating up men has resulted in some pretty awesome programming in the past, and it’s likely to do that again. Dollhouse stars Eliza Dushku as Echo, part of a secret organization that employs operatives who have their memories and personalities wiped, allowing them to be imprinted with new ones, becoming entirely new people, and slipping into missions for hire.

Dollhouse will air Mondays 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT, starting in January of 2009. Hopefully it'll last longer than Whedon's last show, the unfairly cancelled Firefly. Below we’ve got the first ever photos from Dollhouse. Take a look:
