Buffy's ex-nemesis Spike, James Marsters, has a new gig, and it's on the SyFy channel's Battlestar Galactica spinoff Caprica. In it, he plays a character named Baranabus Greely, and our friends over at CB scored the first ever photo of Marsters on the show. Take a look:

Battlestar Galactica is over with, but we still have the spin-off prequel Caprica to look forward to. It won't air on the SyFy Channel until 2010, but the miniseries they'll eventually air to launch it hits DVD on April 21st. Their timing is a little weird, but at least we'll have something to tide us over till next year.
After the jump we have 7 new clips from Caprica for you after the jump. Watch them all to get a taste for what's in store: more...
Battlestar Galactica's run on television is drawing to a close, and greedy Glen Larson has taken steps to ensure that the version of BSG that you love will never get it's due in theatrical form, but all's not bad in the BSG fan universe. There's still Caprica.
Caprica is a prequel spin-off to Ron Moore's current BSG TV series. It'll start it's run on the Sci-Fi channel next year but weirdly, the TV movie which launches the new show will be out on DVD April 21st. The new BSG spinoff Caprica is still adding cast members, and their newest addition is the biggest so far. Eric Stolz is joining the cast! Also being added is Alessandra Torresan.
Full details on who they'll be playing, courtesy of HR:
Stoltz will play Daniel Graystone, a wealthy computer engineer who, after an emotionally crippling family tragedy, uses his technological wizardry to forever change the future of Caprica. Toressani plays Daniel’s daughter, Zoe.
Already in the cast are Esai Morales (formerly of Jericho), and actress Paula Malcomson. The new BSG series is a prequel, set 50 years before the events of the current show.
The Sci-Fi Channel's upcoming BSG spin-off Caprica is filling out its cast. It's a prequel, which means opportunities for the use of existing BSG castmembers are pratically nil. They'll have to start from scratch, and they're starting with an actress named Paula Malcomson.
Malcomson has been cast as the female lead in Caprica... and no she's not playing a Viper pilot. Instead, she plays a surgeon named Amanda, who works as a "double agent" according to HR. Does that mean Cylon? Let the speculation begin!
Malcomson has been a long time television actor. Most recently she's appeared on episodes of shows like Lost, E.R., and even Enterprise where she played Madeline Reed for one episode.

For those of you who haven't been paying attention, even though Battlestar Galactica's life on television is over after the completion of this season, that doesn't mean the BSG universe won't keep going without it. There's a BSG spinoff called Caprica in the works, and until now specifics about the new BSG show have been sparse.
Tonight though, we have spoilerific specifics on BSG: Caprica, courtesy of the guys over at E Online. Here's how they describe the show:
Caprica is the story of two families, the Graystones and the Adams (better known to us now as the Adamas), and we'll be meeting the man who fathered and grandfathered the goodness that is Bill and Lee Adama (Edward James Olmos and Jamie Bamber). Interestingly, when I interviewed Ronald D. Moore last year, Caprica's plotlines were not directly tied to the characters we know from the current series.
So we're looking a prequel, set pretty far in the past of the Colonies we know from the current show. That also means we probably shouldn't expect any cameos from current Battlestar characters, no matter how much we all want Gaius Baltar to get his own show.
