Last week, Amazon announced that they had cast a couple of actors for the Zombieland TV series, which will air exclusively as part of the Amazon Prime streaming service. The show found its Columbus and Little Rock in actors Tyler Ross and Izabela Vidovic, and now it seems they’ve found their Wichita. Three down, one to go!

According to THR, actor Maiara Walsh will play the female lead, Little Rock’s older sister, and Columbus’ love interest. The Wichita role was a launching pad for actress Emma Stone in 2009; perhaps playing Wichita will do the same for Walsh.

Maiara Walsh has appeared in a handful of TV series and straight-to-DVD movies, including Desperate Housewives, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and Mean Girls 2. She found success in a recurring role as Simone Sinclair on the hit ABC Family series Switched at Birth. Zombieland would be the first lead role for Walsh.

Now Amazon just has to find the right person to step into the role of Tallahassee (played by Woody Harrelson in the movie version).

A few weeks ago, leaked script pages from the Zombieland pilot confirmed that a TV series was in the works. It was developed by the movie’s original writing duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Amazon picked up the series, just one more sign of content delivery services moving into the world of original programming. It’s unclear if Amazon will release the entire first season of Zombieland in its entirety or if they would release the episodes on a week-to-week basis, but it’s an exciting time for cord cutters as more mainstream audiences accept Internet TV.
