The whole unlikely family unit is finally complete! Amazon’s Zombieland TV series will add actor Kirk Ward to play the Twinkie-loving, zombie-killing Tallahassee. Woody Harrelson played Tallahassee in Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland movie in 2009. Ward joins Zombieland co-stars Maiara Walsh as Wichita, Tyler Ross as Columbus, and Izabela Vodovic as Little Rock.

According to Deadline, there have been some changes to the Tallahassee TV role to make him different from this movie counterpart. One of the biggest changes is that Tallahassee is now friendlier with Columbus. In the movie version, Tallahassee and Columbus had an icy relationship, which warmed up as the movie unfolded. It appears the TV version of Zombieland will be more like a buddy/road trip/zombie comedy.

There are two more roles to fill in the Zombieland TV series. Another change to the TV version will be the addition of characters Fred and Ainsley, two characters who were office workers before the zombie apocalypse.

According to the original writers of Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, they had Kirk Ward in mind when the project was originally being developed as a TV series, before it was turned into the movie. Ward appeared in the movie Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, the TV series Invasion Iowa, and Michael Bay’s underrated sci-fi film, The Island, in 2005. Zombieland will be Kirk Ward’s first leading role on a TV series. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick also wrote the TV pilot, and they are set to executive produce along the movie’s producer, Gavin Polone.
