UPDATE: The San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog has confirmed that David Duchovny will indeed be reuniting on state with Gillian Anderson for the X-Files panel.

“When it comes to the San Diego Comic-Con, you really have to twist some arms to get anybody to attend. I mean, it’s just a bunch of rotten garage-sale-destined toys and previews for movies and games that no one will ever see or play. And the seven guys who are there are dressed up as the most obscure characters from some movie you’ve never heard of.” Thanks for listening, guys. That was my monologue for the Stirspeach play About Last Opposite Night. Stirspeach = Shakespear(e). (I realize I’m reaching.)

Not only is Comic-Con one of the most rabidly sought-out events that pop culture has to offer, but it’s one that never fails to produce exclusive promotions and panels. TNT’s Falling Skies is bringing its cast and crew to San Diego. It sounds like an alien-ridden good time, but we’re honestly not turning our heads that quickly for it. But a TV Guide panel involving an X-Files reunion to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the show’s premiere? We may have collective neck strain.

Since we’ve just got the good news out there — X-Files reunion! — we might as well get to the bad and the weird news. David Duchovny hasn’t yet been confirmed to appear. But given that TV Guide broke the news in its own ad, there’s a good chance not all the details behind this reunion have been worked out. Fans can expect to see creator Chris Carter, star Gillian Anderson, series writer/producer and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, and writer/producers David Amann, Howard Gordon, Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, John Shiban, and Jim Wong. Check out the ad below. Pink, right?

There’s no reason to think Duchovny won’t jump on board soon, given his lasting love for the show and intentions to get a third film made. After all, Anderson hadn’t even confirmed when the TV Guide ad was made. (The truth wasn’t out there.) She only made it official yesterday. In any case, I just hope there’s an entire section devoted to The Lone Gunmen, and then a second season of the show gets developed. I need more sheepish, conspiracy-driven comedy in my life!

And then we have the Falling Skies panel…wait. Where is it? Oh, here it is, on the short end of the stick. (Sorry about that.) Series fans can expect to see stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Connor Jessup, Colin Cunningham, Sarah Carter, and Doug Jones, joined by executive producers Remi Aubuchon and Greg Beeman. Geek pioneer Wil Wheaton, who hosts the Falling Skies video discussion post-show 2nd Watch, will be moderating this panel, and an autograph signing will take place afterward. Check out a preview of the panel below.
