World War Z promises heavy action, high drama, and killer zombies. I doubt most of us dropped fifty bucks to see the film early, but everyone will finally get a look at the often-troubled World War Z this Friday. To get people further excited about the zombie thriller, Paramount Pictures has released three minutes of the film’s opening action sequence. I recommend watching the above clip in HD and expanded to full screen to get the whole effect.

This scene is terrifying and horrific! In the blink of an eye, society breaks down and the world is thrown into chaos. While World War Z was riddled with production delays, script rewrites, and third-act reshoots, the zombie movie delivers a lot of action and excitement. The three-minute clip above is only a small taste of the frenzy of zombies in World War Z. (I’ve already seen the film, and I can honestly say that it’s not bad.)

World War Z features a frantic race against time to stop the zombie pandemic that threatens to end all of humanity. Society is breaking down as people are being hunted by hordes of flesh-eating zombies. Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is a U.N. investigator tasked with travelling the world and trying to find a way to end the zombie outbreak and keep his family safe.

The zombie thriller also features actors Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Eric West, David Morse, Ruth Negga, Daniella Kertesz, and Matthew Fox. The film, based very loosely on Max Brooks’ best-selling novel, went through many hands in development, but the final screenplay credits go to Matthew Michael Carnahan (State of Play) and Drew Goddard & Damon Lindelof.

World War Z will hit theaters everywhere this Friday, June 21, in 3D and IMAX.
