Haven’t You Always Wondered How Many Times The Word No Is Uttered In The Star Wars Movies?

Have you ever wondered how many times the word “no” is said in all six of the Star Wars movies combined? Yeah, neither have I. Apparently it’s a lot, though, as you can clearly see from the video embedded just below, which collects every single “no” in the entire family of films. You might be surprised to find out how much negativity flows through the canon. They say no to absolutely everything.

You can thank a dude named Chris Haynes for editing all of this together. That took some time. While it’s good for a laugh, you probably don’t need to watch this more than once, twice at the outside.

The best part about this compilation is how the no’s are edited together to the jaunty tune played by the cantina band. All of the clips are cut in pretty solid time with the music.

Going through this video I realized that I have three distinct favorite no’s in the Star Wars movies. One is Luke’s painful, horrified howl after he learns that Darth Vader, his mortal nemesis, is actually his dear old daddy. That’s enough to ruin anybody’s day, make you reexamine some things about your life, and drop yourself down a giant trash chute into space. Especially after your father just cut off your hand.

Two is the robot torture scene, where the R2-looking droid gets its feet branded with the white-hot iron. The third is from Revenge of the Sith, where Anakin, after he has been burned and fully Vader’d, lurches forward like Frankenstein’s monster and shouts, “Nooooo!” That moment is so melodramatic and over-the-top cheesy that it makes me laugh out loud every single time.

What about you guys, do you have a favorite Star Wars no?
