Christmas is almost upon us, with all that entails: family gatherings, gifts under the tree, spiked eggnog, and holiday cheer. But nevermind all that, I say bring on the Doctor Who Christmas special already! Yes, the annual tradition continues on Tuesday, December 25th, with Doctor Who’s latest holiday special, entitled “The Snowmen,” blowing onto TV screens both in the U.K. and here in the States (courtesy of BBC America). And whether your local weather serves up a white Christmas for you or not, the Doctor will have plenty of snow to spare. The only thing is, it may try to kill you.

The folks at BBC America have released a new trailer for “The Snowmen,” and it promises a lot of fun. We’ve got evil snowmen (voiced by Ian McKellen, no less), we’ve got new companion Clara looking lovely and plucky, and some kind of freaky ice lady. Clearly the Doctor will need to get over moping about the Ponds, because there’s business to be sorted.

“The Snowmen” will premiere Christmas night at 9/8c on BBC America, and at 5:15 on BBC One. In addition to a new companion, the Doctor will also get a new “uniform,” a new opening title sequence, and a new TARDIS interior. Bring on the Victorian holiday shenanigans!
