Weekend Roundup: Korean RoboCop, Bad Star Wars Karaoke, And More

The blessing and the curse of writing for Giant Freakin’ Robot is that there is pretty much always an abundance of cool things to write about. Even with our staff chugging away daily to bring you assorted bits and bobs of bodaciousness, there’s no way we can keep up with all of it. And frankly, there are some stories that don’t merit a full write-up; cool little things that are more or less self-explanatory.
And so we arrive at GFR’s Weekend Roundup, a new feature where we shovel up a week’s worth of stories we didn’t get around to, load them into the patented GFR t-shirt plasma cannon, and launch a ball of superheated awesome right straight at your eyeholes. Check it out:
- We don’t understand most of this compilation of weird Korean advertisements, but we have determined that apparently Korean RoboCop is coming to steal all your fried chicken. (That sounds like it should be racist, but I’m not sure how.) Skip to the 1:40 mark or so to see Robo’s home invasion.

- Speaking of Star Wars, here’s what is aptly described as “Awkward Star Wars karaoke.” Billy Dee, Billy Dee!
- Here’s a fun idea: could an advanced alien civilization explore the galaxy in a comparatively short amount of time by using self-replicating probes? Once reaching a target system, the probe would gather materials to replicate itself, possibly leave new probes behind to explore the system, and then send others on the the next systems, and so on and so on.
- The science fiction short Project Kronos is becoming a full-length feature film. Written and directed by Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull, a VFX artist on The Dark Knight, Kronos is a 14-minute documentary-style tale about first contact with intelligent extraterrestrial life.
