Watch Space Guys In Space, It’s Like Red Dwarf Without The Accents

Last year Attack the Block proved you don’t need a big Hollywood budget to make great science fiction movies anymore. The internet is in the process of doing the same thing for science fiction on television. Weekly sci-fi series’ are virtually non-existent on the boob tube right now, which makes it the perfect time to turn to You Tube, for shows like Space Guys in Space.

This new web series is kind of like Red Dwarf without the accents. It’s a sci-fi comedy, in which the entire human race has been destroyed, except for two idiots trapped in an escape pod. Jason Marsden, Davine Levine, and Nicole Pacent star with a little help from the voice of former Mad TV alum Phil LaMarr.

Check out the two 5-minute episodes of Space Guys in Space right here…

The similarities to Red Dwarf are almost unavoidable, but since we’re a long way away from those Red Dwarf episodes actually airing, this seems as good a substitute as any.

What did you think? Will you be back for the third episode? Let us know in the comments below.

    Wow, what a rip…

the first one was a bit lame, but the second one was OK, and I would watch a third, but Not only Red Dwarf, but Wierd Science, Star wars, Halo, And just about every decent sci fiIdea I’ve seen will eventually show up, but then that is an Omage, and that is OK!

  • Bears_with_wings

It even has the ‘Holy’s intro sequence’. I wouldn’t mind so much, but i didn’t laugh once.

Wow. What a flat soda that was. I’ll just wait for the new season from the senior citizens on the small rouge one…

  • Mcfeargal

    i like it!

  • Cdontpanic

    wow….just wow.

  • Lurchi

This is more like Red Dwarf US in that it is unfunny bull excrement.

“…without the accents.” – depends what part of the world you come from. To me it certainly has accents!

Hell yeah! Gimme more!!! This is pure fun!
…as for any detractor’s comments, let me just point out two things:
    1) We Science Fiction fans have been so critically nit-picky about the genera that we’ve made the studios hesitant to offer us more than regurgitated pablum. Hence why our favored genera has become so weakly represented in all forms of available media. Even the (once) Sci-Fi channel (currently pronounced Siffey) now panders to the lowest common denominator in it’s effort to survive. Frankly, we need to STFU & let creativity resume. Remember the old standard “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.” Face it, ST: TOS wasn’t saved & brought back for a 3rd season by a buncha negative-Nancys! It was brought back by POPULAR DEMAND! And that show, much as I love it (READ: paid the hefty price to own it on blu-ray so, shut up!) is rife with cheese!!! All Sci-Fi has it’s flaws. But if we don’t learn to be more all-embracing of the genera, the studios will ignore our interests & we’ll all be stuck watching Seinfeld/CSI clones or worse. 2) A high percentage of great Science Fiction shows are just a reinterpretation of Lost In Space & that show was total crap! But it was fun crap & that’s the point. Voyager: Crap. Red Dwarf: Low-Budget crap. Farscape: Utterly Derivative crap (& again, I paid top dollar to own all three series so, Shut-Up!). I could go on with this list but I’d rather get to the point. All of the shows which are, at some level, arguably Lost In Space reboots & thus “crap” are still unarguably better than the pathetic cop/medical drama & predictable sit-coms which get shoved down our gullets every year with unending ferocity. 3) Quit over-thinking it, STFU & just enjoy! …Apply that to life & we’ll all be happier.

Kindly delete my above comment as there was a clear numerical error in my 2nd sentence. …Or leave it as fodder for the negative-Nancys to feast upon. It might prove amusing. ;)

What do you mean “without the accent”? The first voice I heard had an American accent!

  • Lifetime SF Fan

Load of crap which hasn’t even the virtue of any originality — that’s the danger of parody, when it is anything less than perfectly done. And what do you mean, without the accents?  They all sound foreign to me. Now, smeg off.

It was pretty good, come on there’s only 2 guys and one small pod. Won’t be much better untill they get another someone or something else. They will have to play off each other. The clone needs a upgrade though. He’s just annoying and too much more of him, he’s going out the airlock. Love the Farmburg aka Farmville quotes. If that game has survived to the far distance future, were all doomed ! I like to see more episodes. If anyone has seen the Nuka-Break episodes, you will find they get better over time.

    1) genera? I assume you meant genre? Also, it’s fine to like a lot of Sci-Fi, but a lot of it is bad too, so it pays to be nitpicky, if you’re fine with spending time and money on the mediocre, then feel free.

    2) Your second point makes even less sense than your first.  You begin by saying that the majority of great sci-fi shows are reinterpretations of Lost in Space, and then you go on to say that they’re all crap. So which is it?

    3) No.

    - Message ends.

    To Space Guys in Space,

I will not watch this, it’s not funny.

Wow, Blatant Red Dwarf rip-off, but without the laughs.  There WERE accents, though.  American ones…

  • Privater

Have you guys seen the last few?

  • Ancient Sci-Fi Fan

    Snore….

  • Iceladyscc

Yes, I’ll watch the 3rd episode.  Loved Red Dwarf and this is a tiny bit like it.

  • Augustus

Personally, I don’t think Red Dwarf got funny until the second season.  I also think the next three episodes of the new show aren’t that bad…
