Prometheus Spoof Finds Comedy In The Movie’s Most Gruesome Scene
Prometheus has sparked debate, conversation and prompted theater employees to spoil the movie for patrons based on their political views. There’s just something about Prometheus that has people captivated.
Animator James Lee has created his own version of one of Prometheus’ most talked about scenes. This is a fair warning if you haven’t seen Prometheus yet, this short film is a spoiler for one of the movie’s key moments. Watch but be warned…
SPOILERS FOLLOW!
Lee’s “Pregnetheus” short film is only one minute and 36 seconds long but it depicts the gruesome surgery scene pretty well. It adds a clever “Remove Alien From Stomach App” gag on the automated surgical pod’s touchscreen interface and a very funny boardwalk claw game aspect to getting the alien fetus out of Elizabeth Shaw’s womb. Arguably, this short film is almost as horrific as the actual scene in Prometheus.
Lee writes about the short film in his blog, “I saw Prometheus a couple of weeks ago and despite some clunky plot points, I loved how it looked. I haven’t really done much parody type stuff, so I thought I’d see what I could do with my own rendition of the cesarean scene.”
James Lee is an animator from Griffith University. He has worked on animation for TV advertisements. He animated the short film Tarboy with Hania Lee as part of Jame’s Honours Assessment at Griffith University.
