Watch This Amazing Live Action Voltron Short, Just Don’t Expect Any Robot Fighting
What you’re about to watch is a short film directed by geek media figure Alex Albrecht. It’s set in the universe of Voltron, and not only does it look amazing, it’s well acted. Good acting is a rare thing in the world of online short films, but Timothy Omundson is the only person on screen, and he’s brilliant.
What this video isn’t, is action packed. If you’re coming here hoping for the lion on lion action that is Voltron’s hallmark, you’ll be disappointed. Instead, you’re getting this:
According to Albrecht they’ve been working on the short for nearly a year. To me what they’ve accomplished is less of a short film than it is the first spark of an idea, and idea which could very easily be turned into a brilliant, feature-length Voltron film which would have all the robot on robot action this lacks.
Hollywood has been trying to turn Voltron into a movie for decades, with no success. As recently as this July there was more talk of bringing Voltron to the big screen. Will anything come of it? Who knows. Maybe they should hand it over to Albrecht, he seems to know what he’s doing.
