The Watch International Trailer Shows How Hard It Is To Kill Aliens
20th Century FOX has released the new international trailer for the movie The Watch (the movie formerly known as Neighborhood Watch. The title was changed because of the tragic Trayvon Martin shooting). It gives a bit more information on the movie’s premise, which apparently involves an alien invasion and feels like a mix between Old School and Attack The Block.
The movie follows a group of friends who form a suburban neighborhood watch group and encounter strange aliens, looking to take over the world. They are the Earth’s first line of defense. The neighborhood watch group is led by Evan Trautwig (Ben Stiller), a Costco manager and new suburban resident who forms a neighborhood watch group after his friend is murdered, rounding out the group is a protective father (Vince Vaughn), a local police department reject (Jonah Hill) and a strange sex obsessed resident (Richard Ayoade).
The trailer looks funny but recycles the premise of Super 8 and Ghostbusters. It really does feel like Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn appear to be too old to be playing dopey, unaware jackasses but Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade seem perfect to be these roles. From the looks of this trailer, it feels like Will Forte will steal this movie. It also shows a very funny gag involving how hard it is to kill an alien.
The Watch was directed by Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod) and was written by Jared Stern, Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (Super Bad). The Watch hits theaters on July 27th.
