The first two episodes of the new web-series Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome are now available for your viewing pleasure. The new series is a prequel that takes place during the first Cylon War before the Battlestar Galactica TV series. It can also be seen as a sequel to Ron D. Moore’s short-lived 2010 TV series Caprica.

The 10-episode (12 minutes each) run of the series will be cut together as one two-hour long TV movie and will air on the SyFy Channel in 2013. Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome is more action-centric than its predecessor and follows the military exploits of a young William “Husker” Adama (Luke Pasqualino) during the First Cylon War. He is a recent graduate of the Colonial Fleet and is assigned to the Galactica.

At first, the series was going to get a proper TV series launch on the SyFy Channel with a two-hour pilot episode in 2010. But with the cancelation of Caprica, the SyFy Channel got cold feet with Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome and decided to instead make it a digital online web-series in 2011. But in 2012, the SyFy Channel decided to eventually air the web-series on their cable network in 2013.

It’s actually pretty cool to see Bill Adama as a young, brash, and cocky fighter pilot. There’s plenty of fan service in this episode too with everything from the words “Frak” to “Gods” and an awesome money shot of Galactica herself. It’s enough to make any BSG fan want more content from this amazing science fiction universe.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome episodes will be released every Friday on Youtube.com. The uncut two-hour premiere will air on the SyFy Channel in February 2013. The unrated, uncut, and uninterrupted Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will be released on Blu-ray/DVD on February 19th 2013.
