Watch The Epic 6-Minute Cloud Atlas Trailer

One of the most anticipated movies of this fall is the new film from the Wachowskis, Andy and Lana (Speed Racer, the Matrix Trilogy) and German director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run). We got a first look of actors Tom Hanks, Hallie Barry, Jim Broadbent and Ben Whishaw in Cloud Atlas yesterday.

Now a 6-minute trailer from Warner Bros and Focus Features International has surfaced, leaving more questions than answers of how these story elements will fit together. Watch…

The 6-minute trailer is almost more of a short film as it weaves in and out of multiple storylines. It appears the overall theme of Cloud Atlas is how one person’s decisions can impact many others throughout time. Using the word “epic” is an understatement.

Although the movie looks amazing, this trailer does seem messy and disjointed. It’s not fair to judge anything based on a trailer but it’s going to be very difficult to balance these story elements while making Cloud Atlas cohesive even with a 164 minute running time.

Cloud Atlas will feature Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Ben Whishaw, Keith David, Jim Broadbent, James D’Arcy, Doona Bae. The film’s world premiere will be at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival this September but it will be released in theaters on October 26th.

I agree about it being disjointed. BUT I think the very idea of the movie is that as disjointing as everything seems it is in reality, not disjointed. The disjointed effect is important to bring home the point that it is all not disjointed (I know I said that twice just trying to bring the point home… hahaha)…

I’ll put my faith on the line and predict it will be good. Just don’t film Cloud Atlas 2 and 3 back to back!
