Watch The Entire Star Trek: The Next Generation Cast Reunion In Calgary
Last weekend in Calgary, Alberta the entire cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation (yes even Denise Crosby) was reunited on stage together for the first time, in a very long time. They weren’t in uniform (of course) but for them it was just like old times. Unlike the original Trek cast, it seems the Next Gen crew were actually legimately friends. In fact they remain friendly to this day.
All of that’s plainly evident in the more than 60 minutes of footage from their time together on stage. They’re funny, friendly, and it’s not fake. In fact they’re such good friends that apparently this wasn’t their first reunion that weekend. Before taking the stage on April 28th, the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast got together for a private dinner, just to hang out.
For those of you who don’t want to watch all sixty minutes, we’ll kick things off with a clip taken from it. In this video, you’ll see Wil Wheaton admit he was an idiot to leave the show and in a heartfelt confession tell the cast how much he loved growing up amongst them. Watch…
Hopefully that whet your appetite. The rest of the footage isn’t always as touching, but when it’s not touching it’s incredibly funny. The TNG cast is, above all else, kind of a funny bunch. Watch…
Hopefully you watched the entire thing and agree, that was great. With 60-minutes to watch them you get a real feel for their personalities as a group. Marina Sirtis actually surprised me most. You’d never have guessed it from their dynamic on the show, but it seems clear that she is and always has been one of the group’s primary ringleaders. Almost like a troublemaking mother figure. Meanwhile Jonathan Frakes seems almost fatherly, especially towards Wheaton who really does seem to take a lot of his cues from him.
I loved Frakes’ story about attending his first convention and discovering they were giving away Riker action figures for free with the purchase of a Picard. John de Lancie’s surprise appearance was a real treat. Am I the only one who’d like to know why Denise Crosby was dressed like a crazy homeless person? Is she crazy? I kind of think so.
If you made it through all 66 minutes of reunion footage, share your favorite moments with the rest of us Trekkies in the comments below.
