The Watch Drops The Neighborhood And Shows Off Aliens In This New Trailer

Director Akiva Schaffer’s (Hot Rod) new science fiction comedy The Watch has gone through a name change (the original title, Neighborhood Watch, was changed in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting at the hands of a member of a neighborhood watch), unveiled a foul-mouthed red band trailer, and now lands a much less offensive promo.

The Watch stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade as a bumbling group of bored suburbanites who form a neighborhood watch to battle an undercover alien invasion in their peaceful little burg. What you get in this trailer is similar to the earlier version, but with less cursing, fewer fellatio references, and they make it through the entire thing without referencing semen once. Overall this feels a bit incomplete without the filth and crass humor that permeates the red band offering. The finished product boasts a very hard R rating.

You do get a good peek at the aliens this time around. And from the look of things, the extraterrestrials can take an absurd amount of punishment and still keep on truckin’. Looks like the boys from The Watch have their work cut out for them.

The Watch opens July 27th and co-stars Billy Crudup, Rosemarie DeWitt, Nicholas Braun, and Will Forte.

Why do I have to watch a commercial to watch a commercial?

    • JT

Short answer: Because it costs money to be able to deliver video of any kind on the internet and the people delivering it need some way to pay for those costs, otherwise you won’t be able to watch either the commercial or the commercial before the commercial on your computer.

      Ah capitalism. It’s a motherfucker!
