Watch Darth Vader Have A Conversation With His 12-Year-Old Self
Let the video parodies begin! A few weeks ago, filmmaker Jeremiah McDonald, now 32, made a video of himself having a conversation with his 12-year-old self. It was a viral video success. The video gained McDonald over 7,000,000 views on Youtube in two weeks. Now the New York Comedy collective Dr. Cool Sex created a Star Wars edition of the very popular video.
The video showcases Darth Vader having a conversation with his 12-year-old Anakin Skywalker self. It starts off with a very clever, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away,” but instead of the iconic Star Wars theme opening crawl kicking in, it continues to read, “I made of hologram of myself.”
Seeing Darth Vader having a conversation with a 12-year-old Anakin Skywalker is great! It affirms that the Star Wars prequels have no impact on how we view Darth Vadar. When Anakin asks him “Does anyone ever call you Ani?” and the older Vader replies, “Everyone who ever called me that is now dead!” is one of the best moments in the parody video. Also when young Anakin Skywalker does the over-dramatic “Nooooooooo” cry is a good nod to Episode III. The parody video ends with a Jar-Jar Binks joke, which will never get old.
But as funny as this video is, it can’t top the inventiveness of the original. McDonald had the foresight to make part of his video 20 years ago. The Star Wars edition of the “Conversation with your 12-year-old self” is another example of Internet culture. Find something you like, take it and make it your own.
