Watch Two New Clips From Season Five Of Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Star Wars: The Clone Wars start season five this fall. Last month, the teaser trailer was released to feed young Star Wars fans’ hunger for the upcoming season, and now, Lucasfilms released two new teaser clips, highlighting the return of Darth Maul to the Star Wars universe and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s agreement with the deadly Mandalorian warrior Bo-Katan.
Darth Maul is back! He appears to be half Sith Lord and half cyborg after Obi-Wan bisected him at the end of The Phantom Menace. One of the coolest characters introduced in the prequel trilogy and Lucas had to kill him off at the end of the first movie. It really goes to show that Lucas had no idea what he was doing while making these movies. Now that he’s back, he’ll join forces with his brother Savage Opress to get some revenge on the Jedi. Maul will now have a pair of mechanical raptor-like legs, which will replace his spider-like legs. Also look for conflict between Darth Maul and Count Dukoo for ultimate Sith power.
The second clip teases an alliance between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mandalorian warrior Bo-Katan during the Mandalorian Civil War. There’s a pretty funny moment at the end of this clip when Bo-Katan looks at the destruction around her, turns to Kenobi and says “Maul must really want you dead.” And Obi-Wan replies, “You have no idea.” It looks like season five will play up the Mando’ade clan conflict during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Boba Fett won’t make an appearance this season but we’ll see a lot of Bo-Katan in full Mandalorian armor.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series does a good job expanding the Star Wars universe. It goes in-depth with the different world, factions and loyalties that make up this universe to ultimately fill in the blanks between The Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It’s also interesting to see what other writers and artist can do with George Lucas’ material.
