As always with The Walking Dead, possible spoilers ahead:

With the return of The Walking Dead only five short days away, fans of the AMC series are feverishly waiting for something to brighten up the doldrums of winter. Ex-showrunner Glen Mazzara is more than happy to accommodate the fans’ need to know what’s coming up next, revealing that  something major is about to happen in the second half of season three.

Having parted ways with AMC, Mazzara seems very open to divulging new information about The Walking Dead. He recently hinted at Tyreese’s (Chad Coleman) motivations on the widely popular zombie series. Mazzara told Entertainment Weekly:

Tyrese [sic] is not necessarily a good guy who simply joins Rick’s team and fights against the Governor. He’s a wild card. He’s an interesting character and his priority is keeping his own group safe. I think viewers will be surprised by the twists and turns in the Tyrese story.

This seems pretty cryptic, but Mazzara also teased that a new character will appear by the season’s end. Given how often they kill major characters lately, I guess they have to balance it out with new additions. Mazzara says:

Our comic book fans will still be excited and delighted to see how the story unfolds and how we tell the story. We do have a lot of new surprising material. There’s still a major character to appear in the back half, which is very exciting. As always we take the comic book as inspiration and tell our own story.

This may sound silly, but it seems like Mazzara could be referring to the possible return of  Morgan Jones (Lennie James). He was introduced in the series’ very first episode, and it was teased last week that Rick’s group might cross his path again. Could this be the new character Mazzara was talking about?

Entertainment Weekly also showcased new images from The Walking Dead’s return episode, “The Suicide King.” The images may possibly reveal the outcome of the Daryl and Merle Dixon showdown, so consider that before scrolling down. Hopefully someone throws Andrea to the zombies sometime soon. The images also reveal Greg Nicotero’s amazing makeup work.
