Walking Dead Christmas Proves Zombies Love The Holidays Too

With all my heart, I wish this video were a real thing. Can you imagine a show as overly serious as AMC’s The Walking Dead actually staging a Christmas special? I’d love to be a fly on the wall of that meeting; listening to producers argue the pros and cons of a zombie Christmas. You just know there was one guy, the lone exasperated holdout, pulling his hair, practically screaming “what the hell is wrong with all of you?” That would be a good time.

If Robert Kirkman, Glen Mazzara, and company were to make a holiday edition, it would probably look rather a lot like this short.

Some of the characters don’t look all that much like their real-life counterparts, but they do a great job of capturing the feel of The Walking Dead. The voices are also spot on, especially Rick’s fake ass Southern drawl, and his overly emotional meltdown at the news that there is no cranberry sauce is absolutely perfect. When the Governor sits on the ground, weeping out of his one remaining eye, bemoaning “the worst Christmas ever,” I almost peed a little. Of course a severed hand and six-pack are an ideal present for the discerning, single-handed redneck on your shopping list.

This spoof is the kind of thing you want to be real so bad, like The Wire: The Musical. Alas, it never will be, but at least we can thank Jason Inman and his posse at Jawiin for this look at an alternate universe, one where zombies celebrate Christmas, too.
