It seems like everything coming out of Paramount Pictures about Transformers: Age of Extinction points to a new trailer released before the end of the year. The fourth installment in the Transformers film series will see the franchise take on a new look and feel with new characters and new Autobots and Decepticons. But don’t worry Transformers fans, some of our old favorites are returning to Age of Extinction, namely the Autobots heroic leader Optimus Prime.

Transformers: Age of Extinction will be featured in next month’s issue of Empire Magazine. The British magazine’s cover will be graced with the presence of the film’s new cast – Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Irish actor Jack Reynor – and the new-and-improved Optimus Prime with a medieval-looking sword. While Prime looks familiar, the Autobot’s leader new style lines up with what he looks like as a semi-trailer truck. Check out Optimus Prime’s truck look below for a comparison:

The headlines on the magazine are more interesting to me. It states the locations of Transformers 4, which are Detroit, Hong Kong, and Cybertron! Although there is no mention of Chicago, where Michael Bay said some of the film would take place, it does mention the Transformers’ home planet. Will we finally get to see more of the alien planet in Transformers: Age of Extinction? We only got hints of Cybertron throughout the first Transformers trilogy and it would be a new setting that the film series has yet to explore. If the rumors about Unicron appearing in the film were true, then Cybertron would have to be an important plot element in Transformers 4.

Empire also released an image of Michael Bay doing what he does best, directing a scene featuring people in danger. Say what you will about Michael Bay, he’s one of the few directors in Hollywood that is really hands on during production, especially when it comes to shooting action sequences. One of the early images Paramount released for Age of Extinction featured Michael Bay operating a camera during an explosive action scene.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight recently released a behind-the-scenes first look at the production of Age of Extinction while shooting in Detroit. The streets of the midwestern city were transformed and dressed to look like the streets of Hong Kong, while the entertainment news show interviewed the film’s stars. We also got a look at the new 2014 Chevrolet Camaro that doubles as Bumblebee and the very expensive and sexy Pagani Huayra that will double for a new Decepticon called Stinger.

Paramount has yet to release a plot synopsis for the new Transformers film, but according to Bay and star Mark Wahlberg, Age of Extinction would take place in Chicago, some four years after the events of Dark of the Moon. It’s also rumored that the film’s new villain will be Galvatron (the resurrected Megatron). Bay also described the film as a “chase from hell.”

Like I mentioned above, it seems like the first teaser trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction will be release soon. If it were to be released, it would most likely be attached to Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which opens on December 20, or Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in January 2014.

The new Transformers film stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, T.J. Miller, Victoria Summer, Li Bingbing, Titus Welliver, Kelsey Grammer, and Peter Cullen. Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters everywhere on June 27, 2014, in 3D and IMAX.
