Super Freaky Monsters Abound In These Digging Up The Marrow Images

Whether or not you’re a fan of director Adam Green’s work in the past, his next film looks like it might eclipse everything else he’s done. The filmmaker behind the Hatchet franchise and Frozen—no, not THAT Frozen—is opening up the Pandora’s Box of ghoulish monsters for the creature feature Digging Up the Marrow. Some new images and a poster have made their way onto the Internet and possibly my nightmares. That beast in the image above? (Shivers.)
Green both wrote and directed Digging Up the Marrow, and he also stars in the film as a slightly different version of himself. He plays a filmmaker who receives a package in the mail—from none other than genre favorite Ray Wise (Twin Peaks)—with a message that claims he can prove the existence of no-bullshit monsters in the real world. And so Green takes a film crew on a journey that eventually takes them deep underground into the land of bonkers species.
I know, I know. Green, who has a relatively huge fanbase, is jumping into the found-footage faux documentary game a little late, and judging from his former Chiller series Holliston, he’s not that great of an actor. But the dude loves and respects the horror genre, and almost always has something interesting to say. And he’s got the help of artist Alex Pardee helping out with those crazy-ass creatures. Check out the poster below, which seems to show the thing in the above image, only made out of trees instead of bright colors.
And then there’s this frightening looking bastard in mid-scream (or mid-yawn). I don’t know why it’s in black and white, but it’s hideous all the same.
Finally, here’s a shot of another colorful fright monger, which looks like it has another face painted on top of its head. That’s all I need in my life.
For those who can’t wait to take this hopefully horrifying trek with Adam Green, Image Entertainment releases Digging Up the Marrow in theaters on February 20, 2015.
