See What Could Have Been In This Star Wars Steampunk Concept Art

It should go without saying that Star Wars would have been a completely different animal if George Lucas decided to take his space opera in a more steampunk direction. Even though it didn’t go down like that, there’s always a fan around to ask, “What if?”
Britain-based artist and game designer Bjorn Hurri decided to share his vision of a steampunk Star Wars, and fortunately for fans, Hurri has the chops to pull this off. His gallery of images is not only slick and professional, but also a damn lot of fun.
Doesn’t part of you wish that Luke Skywalker actually looked like this, especially the mustache part?
The long, flowing dress is a good fit for Princess Leia. Something about the line and flow of this image, from the feet to the tip of that old-timey pistol, captures the swagger of the character perfectly.
This bowler-wearing, pipe-smoking interpretation of Han Solo is another one that really hits the nail on the head as far as summarizing his personality. The facial hair is very fitting indeed.
I don’t know what the hell Hurri is thinking with this Chewbacca painting. The brave, loyal Wookiee is in a full manic meltdown in this picture, and you can’t help but wonder what it would have been like if he had a top hat and a blowtorch in the original trilogy.
This Yoda picture is just creepy. He looks like a shriveled, decrepit emphysema patient, one who insists on smoking even after having a lung removed and a hole poked in his throat.
But he’s still not as creepy as this version of Jabba. It’s a pretty accurate depiction of what he would look like in a steampunk universe, but he looks gooey and gross, which is whole point.
Everyone gets a funny hat, except the one that really, truly needs it. C-3PO would feel so much more complete with an old-fashioned cap of some sort.
Hurri’s stormtrooper is straight-up badass. That’s what you want an enemy foot soldier to look like.
And what collection of Star Wars art would be complete without an appearance from everyone’s favorite intergalactic bounty hunter, Boba Fett?
