The InquisitorDuring New York Comic-Con this past October, Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo revealed the new threat to the emerging Rebel Alliance in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. His name is The Inquisitor and he’s one of Darth Vader’s henchmen, a gun hired to track down and hunt any signs of rebellion in the new Galactic Empire. While we only got one image of the new villain, Lucasfilm recently released two new images of The Inquisitor in action figure form.

As part of the new Star Wars: Rebels Saga Legends toy line, The Inquisitor action figure stands at 3.75 inches and comes with a variation of Darth Maul’s double-edged lightsaber. Although he’s tasked to put an end to the fledgling Rebel Alliance, Vader’s goon is also responsible for hunting down any remaining Jedi Knights after Emperor Palpatine executed Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith. It’s going to be interesting to meet the new Jedi Knights (besides Obi Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda) in this new world. Although The Inquisitor looks menacing enough, looks a little like a discount Darth Maul.

The new line likely includes The Inquisitor, the new team of teenage rebels, and a slew of new stormtroopers. I’m pretty sure we’ll see more from Star Wars and Hasbro during the upcoming New York Toy Fair in February.

Curry voiced the Sith Lord for the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars when the actor who originally voiced Palpatine, Ian Abercrombie, unfortunately passed away in the middle of the season. Lucasfilm also released new concept art featuring Rebels’ main location, the planet Lothal in the outer rim. George Lucas’ former company released the new image via Lucasfilm’s new tumblr. page.

Rebels takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, a few years before the start of Episode IV in the larger Star Wars timeline. The Galactic Empire is taking over planets in the outer rim planets, and a band of teenage renegades start to sabotage the Imperial stranglehold on Lothal. They do anything they can to undermine the new Emperor’s power and form the very early inklings of what will become the Rebel Alliance.

Lucasfilm recently unveiled new behind-the-scene videos featuring Rebels‘ executive producers Greg Weisman (Disney’s Gargoyles) and Simon Kinberg (Star Wars: Episode VII, X-Men: Days of Future Past). The videos take a closer look at production, along with offering new insights into how the animated series fits into the Star Wars saga.

Billy Dee Williams is also rumored to be reprising his role as a younger Lando Calrissian, while David Oyelowo, Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray, and Steven Jay Blum are all expected to lend their voices to the animated series.

Star Wars: Rebels will air sometime in October 2014. It will premiere on the Disney Channel, and then move to Disney XD for weekly installments.
