Let Star Wars Help You Nail That Job Interview

Job interviews suck. Having to convince some complete stranger that you really do want their crappy job is stressful. Selling yourself to some half-interested human resources rep is hard to do without coming across like a complete jag. Worst of all is convincing yourself that this is the job you really, truly, with all your heart, want, even though all you’re actually after is a steady paycheck, a wake-up time later than five in the morning, and maybe some health insurance. Hell, sometimes you just need a job so you can afford to pay the rent.

You need something to get you psyched in these situations, but what? Unless this is your dream job—and let’s face it, they usually aren’t—it isn’t always easy to get into the appropriate frame of mind. This video from Lumberjack Films has a suggestion that just might work for you, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan. And let’s face it, you’re a Star Wars fan.

Say what you will about The Phantom Menace, but John Williams’ “Duel of the Fates” is a pretty sweet jam. The layered, building strings makes you want to kick things, or, in the case of this video, get in there and take that job. That’s what a Jedi Knight would do.

This video is pretty clever. And even if this strategy doesn’t help you nail the interview, maybe you’ll end up in a life-or-death lightsaber duel with the interviewer. If nothing else, that makes for one hell of a funny story to tell later on.
