Here’s How The Next Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Reveals Luke, Leia, And Han

Star WarsWhen we’re talking about a movie the size of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the trailers get more hype and attention than most of the other films that hit the theaters in a given year. Every single frame of the one that dropped back in November has been examined, poured over, and milked of every last drop of potential information. And now it’s time to move our attention to the next trailer.

We’ve heard that the next look at The Force Awakens will show theatrically with Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the most recent news has it making its public debut at Star Wars Celebration in mid-April. Latino Review has been all over the Star Wars beat since day one, and they’ve had contact with multiple sources, all claiming to have seen a similar trailer, and shared the description with the world. There are spoilers for the trailer beyond this point, if that’s even a real thing. This report is, obviously, unconfirmed.

The trailer begins with the view of a desert planet where a ruined AT-AT lays on its side. There’s a voiceover that the report notes sounds like Lupita Nyong’o, which says, “I shall show you the story of who you seek, the one who taught me. I know why the weapon came to you.” That sounds like it refers to the lightsaber we’ve heard kicks off all of this action.

As the voiceover happens, the scene cuts to a forest with what looks like a castle or some other massive structure and an entrance in the base of a big tree. Then it cuts to “A large city in a tropical location” on the water, then to a shrouded figure that the report supposes could be Luke Skywalker, standing on a hill with mountains behind him. As this mysterious voice wraps it up, it cuts to Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and a small blue alien with a CGI face in a cave. Finn turns on the lightsaber, which has a green blade, and “Rey is in the background and looks disturbed.”

Moving on from this opening there are a lot of quick shots. This sounds similar in structure to the first trailer, where it starts slow and ominous, but picks up the pace after a moment.

This is where we get our first look one of the old guard in the form of Han Solo, who wears that long brown duster we’ve heard about and stares past the camera. Then there’s:

A black TIE Fighter attacking the forest location we saw earlier. Kylo Ren in a POV shot approaching someone on the ground. His mask is dark with silver accents. The cross-guard saber is ignited. People running in the city seen earlier in the trailer. R2-D2 making a forlorn beep. C-3PO and Princess Leia in what looks like a base command center.

A new voiceover chimes in, one that sounds like Andy Serkis from the first trailer, and says, “Don’t get too sentimental.” This plays as Han looks at Leia then walks away from her, heading to the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca. I don’t know what’s going on there, but that can’t be good.

We end up in the snow-covered forest where we first met Kylo Ren in the first trailer. This time you see Finn holding the lightsaber and he looks like he’s protecting Rey. Off screen, Han says, “You can do this, kid, I believe in you.” The final shot shows a hooded head, which, when it looks up, is Luke.

I hope this is half as exciting and chilling as it is in my head, because it’s incredible in there. We’ve heard that we would see the returning characters in the next trailer, and if this is legit, that is certainly the case. Luke, Leia, and Han are obviously the big ones, but I like that we get at least a glimpse of Chewie, R2, and 3PO as well. Getting our first look at them on the big screen again is going to be pretty damn cool.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens everywhere December 18. What do you think of this description? Does it sound like what you want to see? Do you care even a little bit? It is, after all, only a trailer.
