Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Yet Another Trailer Description That’s Totally Different

star warsHey, do you remember earlier today when we heard reports about the upcoming trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Someone heard a description of the action from their sources and relayed it and we relayed it to you. (You can read about it HERE if you want, or just wait until a bit later, as we’ll get back to it eventually.) Well, as it turns out, they’re not the only ones with sources, and they’re not the only ones whose sources are talking about the upcoming trailer. This latest report, however, is drastically different from the first.

Again, I don’t if you can spoil a trailer, but I’m sure there are people that sensitive out there, so here goes: THERE ARE POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR THE STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS TRAILER.

The first description came from Badass Digest, and their sources described the trailer as a quiet version of “The Force Theme” playing over images of the key players from the cast as they fade in and out of blackness. Then eventually there is a female voice that says, “Wake up,” a title card, and the Millennium Falcon blasting through space. That’s it, simple, short, to the point, just a tease.

Making Star Wars, on the other hand, has heard something quite different. They couldn’t get it confirmed whether or not the “Wake up” line is there, but besides that, the version they’ve heard sounds much more action packed and full of information. Here’s what they have to say on the matter, and though all of these pieces apparently pop up in the trailer, they’re not in any particular order here:

Fade in from black, shots of the dunes, Boyega pops in to the shot from below. He’s wearing white Stormtrooper armor but he doesn’t have a helmet on.

In the teaser we only see Boyega and Ridley really.

Ridley boards a speeder.

She has a helmet on like Endor Leia, a design with pop-down goggles.

A shot of Ridley’s speeder approaching the station (the TMZ set we saw).

We see the new Stormtroopers on a transport. The flight is turbulent.

New X-wings.

TIE Fighters.

The new ball droid that’s a gyroscope and belongs to “Kira.”

The new “Sith” is also revealed. He has a cross-beam lightsaber and the beam is a bit wilder and more super-charged than your normal lightsaber.

The Falcon.

While the first version definitely sounds more like teaser, something that sets the mood more than anything, this sounds like a real, honest-to-god trailer. If this is how it pans out, you’ll get a look at some of the updated designs of classic Star Wars features, like various fighters, new stormtroopers, a fancy new droid, and even a new-school lightsaber. That could all be pretty fantastic.

More than anything, however, it’ll be curious to see which, if either, of these reports pans out. Both outlets have been all over Star Wars news since the beginning, and while some of their reports have coincided, others haven’t. Because the trailer is expected fairly soon—some reports say it could drop as early as with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 this weekend, which seems a little quick—we may have an idea shortly of which site’s intel is most accurate.

Which of these versions of the trailer would you rather see? Do you have a preference? Do you even give a shit at this point because it’s so early? No matter what, we have to wait until December 18, 2015 to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens for ourselves.
