Star Wars: The Force Awakens Fan Posters Sure Love That New Lightsaber

If there’s one thing that I know to be true, it’s that any new science fiction project is going to inspire a huge wave of creativity from its fans. Especially if the project in question belongs to one of the twin SF juggernauts of Star Trek and Star Wars. And given that the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now the most viewed trailer of all time, it’s no surprise that the fans have been picking apart every little detail and using them as inspiration to make new bits of awesomeness. And the so-called “Poster Posse” is leading the charge, serving up crossblade lightsabers and beardy badass Luke Skywalker.
This next one is my favorite of the bunch, a beautiful tip of the hat to one of the original trilogy’s most iconic shots. I like it so much that I really hope director J.J. Abrams actually does this in The Force Awakens. Can’t you just hear the John Williams score?
The mysterious (Sith?) robed figure with the cross-blade lightsaber is one of the most talked-about elements of the Force Awakens trailer, so naturally he (she?) is getting a lot of love in the Poster Posse parade.
How do you make that lightsaber even cooler? Mash it together with an X-wing.
This next one went in a wholly unexpected direction with a clever mashup. Just what is Tetsuo’s midi-chlorian count, anyway?
You can see more of the Poster Posse art below. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
