It’s been almost eight months since Disney announced their acquisition of Lucasfilm from George Lucas for a whopping $4.4 billion. Disney also promised to kick-start a new trilogy starting in 2015 with Star Wars: Episode VII. Needless to say, this was a shock to Star Wars fans and the general public alike. Since then, there have been numerous rumors about Episode VII, but the latest rumblings may give us a small glimpse into the film’s characters. [A very small glimpse. More like a gander. Possibly three-fourths of a look-see. – Ed.]

Star Wars: Episode VII

The folks at Bleeding Cool claim to have obtained an official casting breakdown full of character details for the upcoming Star Wars sequel. Bleeding Cool claims this information is confirmed as 100% accurate, but as always with casting rumors, we’re still going to take it with a grain of salt. Here we go:

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’t need to be particularly fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

Forty something male, fit, military type.

Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

There you have it! From all the speculation surrounding the new film, it sounds like the new film series will center on a cast in their late teens or early twenties. This would fit pretty well with the scuttlebut that Episode VII will revolve around the twin children of Han Solo and Princess Leia, Jaina and Jacen Solo.

Of course, this is all rumor and speculation until Disney, Lucasfilm, J.J. Abrams, or Michael Arndt makes any of it official. Principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to begin in early 2014 in London, England, targeting a 2015 release date.
