Star Wars: The Clone Wars Will Get A Second Season
If like me, you saw the theatrical version and were so horrified that you vowed right then and there to stop watching anything Star Wars related ever again, then you’re probably mystified to hear that anyone is watching this series, let alone enough people to earn it a second season. Yet word on the street is that Clone Wars is far less horrible in television form than it was in movie theaters.
Someone must be tuning in, because in a press release issued this morning Lucasfilm announced that their computer animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been picked up for a second season by Cartoon Network. Why’d they want more? Because Star Wars “ranks #1 in its time period with all boys demos across all television.” I’m not sure what that means, but it certainly sounds impressive.
The show’s series debut in October of last year was the most watched series debut in Cartoon Network history… which is a shame since they once played host to Samurai Jack, the greatest animated series ever. Those should have been Jack’s ratings.
No word on when the second season of Clone Wars will start, but now we know it’s coming. Maybe we should all give in and let Lucas have a second chance.
