I bought STO when it first came out and actually liked it for the first few levels. Then all of a sudden all of the cool story line quests just disapeared and i ended up with nothing to do. It just felt like they put a game out that was in the pre-beta testing phase and said it was a completed game. Kinda got that feeling that i got screwed over by yet another incomplete game. Come on we get enough of that crap on PS3 or Xbox with the "Oh what you just bought this game today guess what... we have a ton of downloadable content you can buy!" bullshit.

STO's problem cannot be pegged down to any one particular problem. A fair old chunk is down to the gameplay - Fed's are fighting anything in sight; Klingon's are no longer Klingon's in the sense of the shows. Most every update that goes live is buggy as hell, and needs fixing, but doesn't always get fixed within a week. Ever since F2P went live the in-game cash store has cranked their prices up by ridiculously large amounts, this is also true regarding their takeover by Perfect World. I could go on, but I won't.
I do play STO, have done since October 2010, and have put up with the bugs and hyper-inflation, but I can also see how this WILL put players off, particularly if they can't play their favourite races without paying a ludicrous amount first, or getting your favourite ship.
I know that Cryptic has to pay their staff, nobody works for free, but is the income from the in-game store going down that much that they need to hike the prices up to compensate? The minimum system requirements are no longer available, so any new player with an old machine may not be able to play at it's full potential.

Noone can get it right with everything. I play STO, because I like the ideas behind the original content - finding out what happened after the events of Nemesis and ST(2009) including Voyager, but some of the recent content and UI has been leaving a bitter taste, even in my mouth.

STO's problems are the game IMHO...
I tried it and it just felt cheesy and setup incorrectly...
I wanted to be a Klingon but was told i had to advance thru other species before i would be allowed to do that.. i dropped it after playing once.. I do know of others that play and like it tho, so maybe it was just me...

This is a little disappointing. Although maybe the reason there's a lack of interest is the fact that there's just about no marketing going on. I hadn't heard of this game until this article but I would have been down for another Star Trek game.

STO is really a pain in the rear as far as MMOs go. I was hoping that Infinite Space would be an improvement to the genre but alas, it is not to be.

Star Trek Online is a very bland and tedious use of the franchise in my experience. It failed to grab a die-hard trekkie like me - and they're the sort of audience they should have aimed for.
