Fanboys had one major reason to tune into the Super Bowl tonight, because they just debuted the latest trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness. While it still doesn’t answer the big questions — who is Cumberbatch and what are his motives? — but it definitely took the already impressive action from the previous trailer and turned things up to 11.

Much of the footage we’ve seen before, but there’s more of it and several new jaw-dropping moments. You’ve got the Enterprise plummeting out of orbit, Cumberbatch’s John Harrison boasting to Kirk that he’s better “at everything,” and a starship — possibly the Enterprise again — smashing through a city skyline. Clearly, Into Darkness won’t be scrimping on the action. Here’s the trailer.

Once again, one thing remains clear: Benedict Cumberbatch is gonna own this freakin’ movie. I’ve got my fingers crossed that the rest of the movie lives up to the promise of these trailers, and course-corrects the first film’s problems, but the one aspect I’m not worried about at all is Cumberbatch. After all, he’s better…at everything.

Star Trek Into Darkness opens in theaters on May 17, 2013.
