Star Trek Into DarknessWhile you’re waiting, camped out in line to see J.J. AbramsStar Trek Into Darkness, take a moment to gawk at these two new images that have been released from the film.

The first slick new picture shows Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and Dr. Carol Marcus (Alice Eve), sitting on a transport. You can see the tension between Marcus, the new kid on the Enterprise block, and Spock, who thinks she is there to replace him. Kirk, of course, just sees another pretty face for him to hit on. You can also see Leonard “Bones” McCoy (Karl Urban) peeking over the row of seats behind them.

Those grey uniforms look exceptionally uncomfortable. They look like they’re made of thick rubber and would be stiff and incredibly hot. Can’t you feel the beads of sweat dripping down your back already?

Picture number two shows Kirk and Spock in what looks like the same transport vehicle. This time, however, they’re gaping at something through the window. They don’t appear too terribly concerned, though their attention does seem to be pretty focused on whatever it is that is creating that warm yellow glow. Perhaps it’s just a particularly striking sunrise, but most of us don’t buy that for a second. Maybe this is the first time they lay eyes on the Enterprise in the film. I could see them being that awestruck by the sight.

Whatever the cause, we only have a few days to wait until we can finally see Star Trek Into Darkness, which opens this Thursday, May 16.
