Sixpence None The Richer’s Kiss Me: Better In Klingon
Do you know the song “Kiss Me,” by the band Sixpence None the Richer? It was friggin’ everywhere in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s, one of those dittys that suddenly became omnipresent for no apparent reason, popping up on everything from sitcoms to commercials to movie trailers. Even if the name doesn’t ring any bells, I’d probably only have to hum a bit of it before it would become lodged in your brain like some sort of parasitic worm. Thankfully I won’t do that to you, both because I’m not that cruel, and because my humming doesn’t translate to text well. Hmmm hmm, hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm. See? Nothin’.
At any rate, I would have been perfectly happen to live out the remainder of my days without ever hearing or thinking about “Kiss Me,” but if I absolutely have to get sideswiped by the song’s existence again, what better way than to have it sung by an angry Klingon woman, as seen above.
Granted, there have been some lyrical adjustments to compensate for the more, shall we say “aggressive” nature of Klingon society. Still, the treacly lyrics make a lovely contrast against the Klingon lady’s delivery, and my only complaint here is that the video doesn’t end with the lead singer of Sixpence being murdered with a bat’leth.
Now if somebody could just sic the Klingons on that damn Gotye song…
Here’s the original song for comparison, but really you should just rewatch the Klingon version again.
