With Falling Skies successful and headed into a fourth season TNT is looking to add more sci-fi to its roster. Enter The Last Ship, a new series from Transformers director Michael Bay and starring a lot of people, but most importantly starring Adam Baldwin.

Baldwin was Jayne on Firefly and he tends to make just about everything he shows up in, a little better. Everything except this trailer (via Cinema Blend), that is, since it only allows him on screen for about one-second before cutting away to some dramatic, viral stock footage. The trailer does, however do a pretty good job of outlining the show’s premise, and as premises go, it’s a pretty good one.

The Last Ship’s plot goes a little something like this: In the future the world is devastated by a plague. The military, the government, all of its gone. All of it except for one, lone naval destroyer which must find a cure for the disease before there’s nothing left of humanity to save. Adam Baldwin’s place in the crew is as XO Mike Slattery, a former homicide detective and the ship’s second in command. In other words, he’s not the star. That’s Eric Dane as Tom Chandler, captain of the U.S.S. Nathan James.

The Last Ship debuts on TNT Sunday, June 22 at 9:00 p.m.
