Rosie Huntington-Whiteley To Get Post-Apocalyptic In Mad Max: Fury Road
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley made her big screen debut on one of the biggest stages possible, in a Transformers movie directed by Michael Bay. No sneaking into the limelight there. The Victoria’s Secret model’s next movie is somewhat less massive, though still pretty big-time. The burgeoning actress will appear in George Miller’s post-apocalyptic franchise reboot Mad Max: Fury Road.
According to Deadline, the twenty-five year old Brit “will play one of the five wives in the film.” What exactly that means, we’re not sure. Are there just a lot of married dudes in Fury Road, or is she one of five wives of a particular character? The latter theory seems the most likely. Can’t you imagine a post-apocalyptic warlord, a mad baron of the wasteland collecting wives like trophies? After the fall of civilization laws, mores, and social conventions are apt to go out the window, why not standard marriage practices as well?
Questions surrounding Huntington-Whiteley’s role are just the latest in a production that already has an air of mystery to it. It has been stated that Fury Road is neither a prequel nor sequel. But it’s not quite a remake either, so we’re left wondering exactly what the hell it is. We do know that Tom Hardy is jumping into the role of Max, made famous by a young Mel Gibson, and that Charlize Theron’s role required a buzz cut.
In Transformers: Dark of the Moon Huntington-Whiteley was primarily Shia LeBeouf arm candy. As one of a horde of wives, it is hard to imagine her part in Fury Road will be all that different. Two films deep into a movie career, it’ll be interesting to see if she can actually act.
