At this point in the summer movie season we’ve already seen giant robots, skyscraper tall prehistoric monsters, multiple post-apocalyptic bummers, and a few raunchy comedies that hit the mark with varying degrees of accuracy. It’s perfectly understandable if your brain has been pummeled to mush and the last thing you want to do is peel yourself off of the couch and trek to a movie theater. Lucky for you, this time of year television isn’t quite the dead zone it used to be, so you don’t have to go anywhere if you don’t want to. CBS kicked off season two of it’s hit Under the Dome, and their Steven Spielberg-produced Extant is on the way in a few days. In addition to those, season eight of Doctor Who is on the way. Fans of time travel and period dramas also have Ronald D. Moore’s adaptation of Outlander to look forward to, and we have this Australian trailer to keep you occupied for a little bit longer.

Based on the internationally best-selling novels by Diana Gabaldon, which have sold more than 20 million copies world wide, Outlander tells the story of Claire Randall (Catriona Balfe), who, much like the protagonist of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five, becomes a little unstuck in time. A World War II nurse, Claire is on a romantic getaway with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies). The year is 1945, the place is Scotland. When she has an encounter with a strange rock formation, she falls back in time 200 yeas. Once there, Claire must adapt or die, so she acclimates herself to this brutal, dirty new way of life, putting her medical skills to good use—she’s got to be one of the most highly trained medical professionals of this day. Eventually she begins a hot and heavy romance with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a young warrior with tussled hair and six-pack, while still trying to figure out a way to get back home.

This video features a ton of new footage that we haven’t seen yet, and proves yet again that Outlander, if nothing else, will look fantastic. From the costumes and sets all the way to the dreamy way the show is photographed, this is obviously a very meticulous, deliberately constructed program.

You get our most complete vision of what an episode of Outlander will look like. There are multiple time periods, lots of running and action, and what appears to be a ton of melodrama, complete with dramatic starring into the distance and heaving breathes. And because this is Starz, you can bet that there will be an ample amount of sex and skin, which, considering what we know about these books, should be plentiful.

Outlander premieres on Starz on August 9, which is a Sunday, because you don’t already have nearly enough shows to watch on Sunday nights.
