Robot Chicken Returns For Another Helping Of Star Wars
It was a lot of fun the first two or three times Robot Chicken and Family Guy did it, but really guys, this animated remaking of Star Wars movies is starting to feel kind of old. Yet they’re at it again, or at least Robot Chicken is. If form holds, Family Guy is sure to follow eventually, especially the way those Blue Harvest DVDs sold.
For now though, it’s all Robot Chicken. Adult Swim has announced that Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III is on the way. It’s the third installment in their highly rated series of Star Wars themed specials. They’ve done so well in fact, that they’ve landed a big name to voice Anakin Skywalker. Zac Efron (a closet sci-fi geek) is on board to whine his way through the character. The rest of the cast from the previous installments returns, and that means actual Star Wars actors voicing their characters. In particular, Billy Dee Williams and Ahmed Best will voice their characters.
Poor Ahmed Best.
Unlike the previous specials, which used Robot Chicken’s non-linear style, this one is expected to use linear storytelling. According to Robot Chicken’s producers, “We wanted to take the Star Wars universe and see if through the eyes of our Robot Chicken: Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper. We’ll still flip around the universe but we’ll get a unique perspective from the bad guy side, from people who just want to rule the universe.”
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III will debut on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim December 12th.
