New Robocop Pics Give Us The Best Look At The Costume Yet

I’m beginning to wonder if the RoboCop remake allotted any budget at all toward security. There has been a steady stream of photo and video leaks from the filming in Toronto, Canada, and now another batch has arrived that gives us the best, most detailed look at the new robo-suit yet.

While I still think the suit looks too Batman-y, these pictures do at least give us a good look at the details, and how the various plates and pieces fit together. In the shot where actor Joel Kinnaman, who’s playing officer Alex Murphy/RoboCop, you can see a skullcap piece, and the neck design where the helmet connects reminds me a lot of Darth Vader. I am curious if the skullcap is just a practical consideration to keep Kinnaman’s head more comfortable, or if it’s actually supposed to be part of RoboCop’s getup within the movie.

Another interesting thing: in these shots Kinnaman is wearing gloves over both hands. In several of the previous pictures, he’s had one hand bare. Are they literally just supposed to be gloves? Or perhaps these pictures are supposed to represent a different stage of his construction. Maybe they left the human hand for a while and then decided it looked silly? (Which it did.)

You can see a ton more of the images over at Just Jared. RoboCop is scheduled to release on February 7, 2014.
