Let me explain this as simply as possible. Prometheus wasn't just a HORRIBLE movie, it was IRRESPONSIBLE, ego-driven and poorly executed filmmaking! Ridley Scott and Lindelof in particular fashioned this mess of a movie into a series of plot holes the size of the Grand Canyon, poorly fleshed out characters you don't care about for a second and such a ridiculous storyline that would lead one to believe they creators SHOULD have billed this as a stand alone film! Instead of some vague, wishy-washy, half-assed attempt at creating a "prequel" to the far more superior and classic Alien! I actually left the movie MORE than confused...I was downright angry! To think the films creators could pull the wool over our eyes with the drivel they presented at multiplex's worldwide is infuriating. To have spent $15 dollars for a ticket is blatant thievery as far as I'm concerned. Word is there will be a (heheh) "sequel" to Prometheus. Let's hope the producers are joking. Better yet, let the hugely disappointing Prometheus die a good death and may it never be mentioned again in the annals of cinema history.

oh cool you made it through university... that's awesome
the movie is a sci-fi... sci-fi means science fiction.. i know you know that, because you made it through university, just checking.. sci-fi about the biggest question in science, physics, (those are major subjects on all universities that you probably know because you made it through university) sci-fi about the origin of everything... actually there are lots of tricky stories and facts you would find out about the movie that probably, someone like you would appreciate and be amazed of because based on what you said, you made it through university..
actually, when it comes to the worst piece of insulting crap, this is nothing compared to the current shit we have today, ex. lady gaga, justin bieber, nicki minaj, which, well, for someone who made it through university you would probaby consider those as one of the most insulting crap we have in our time... or maybe not if they made it through the univer-shit-ty of swag... oh, that's supposed to be university of swag.. i mispelled it on purpose as a joke, which you would probably get the logic and purpose of the joke because you made it through university...

- I think that Vickers was a man because, that moment when Dr. Shaw was amazed of the med pod and tried to go techie with it, Vickers tried to stop her… probably so that Dr. Shaw won’t find out that it’s designed for a male patient only and it wont give them the awkward suspicion of her gender.. if it was made for Peter Weyland, why not get the one for the same sexes? I also think he’s the son Peter Weyland, never had… or had but never did..

For the whole story, i think there is a god who created these engineers to create us, the humans, god liked us, engineers doesn’t, engineers wants to wipe us out maybe because we don’t worship them, god wants to stop them so maybe that’s why he created these parasites to stop these engineers.. probably that might be the story, but i don’t know, if it wasn’t i would like to know… SEQUEL! SEQUEL! :D

I just watched the movie minutes ago… great story and looking forward for a sequel…. the adventures of David & Dr. Shaw. :)

When the Prometheus crew enters the shrine with the giant stone head and the vases on the ground, they see hanging on the wall a carved relief of what can only be the kind of Xenomorph Queen that Ripley encounters in "Aliens". So I think the Xenomorphs already existed as a fully developed species, and the Engineers used their unique DNA to make their biological weapon (the black goo). That's why anything that comes into contact with the goo mutates into a being that exhibits traits or instincts of various aspects of the Xenomorph's life cycle (face hugging, impregnating through the throat, etc.).

No, 'S', it's because David is an autonomous synthetic human, with the capability to form his own conclusions based on his admittedly limited experiences (experiences which you and I take for granted, which is perhaps why David develops "strange obsessions"). Once Weyland dies, it is no longer programmatically *imperative* for him to return to Earth with the lifeforms Weyland wanted for his manufactory. With Weyland dead, David is free to make his own choice.

He chose curiousity (you can see it on his face as he makes the decision) -- Ellie made a compelling case for going to ask the Engineers some pointed questions, at their home planet, with a ship-load of weapons-grade mutagens -- instead of continuing to follow his dead creator's compulsion that the payload be returned to Earth. Vickers makes the same decision the very second Weyland expires: No need to follow orders and stay on the hellhole planet another second longer (although she undoubtedly knows she's got a half-human xenomorph locked up in her medpod to take back to Earth with her, as she was programmed to do)...

I imagine that Weyland's instructions ran along the lines of, "If you find any alien lifeforms on your explorations, be sure and bring back some samples. Our medical division will make a fortune off the research", without necessarily ever thinking that those life forms would be the most horrific nightmare ever devised, so destructive that the god-like Engineers couldn't overcome an outbreak. Weyland was probably thinking more along the lines of Tribbles...

So, David asks: "And how do you propose I transport these life forms, should I find any?"

Weyland: "Oh, just stick them in any suitable container..."

The idea that Scott doesn't discus all the nuances and twists of his characters with the actors who are portraying them, surprises me not in the least...
...Mebbe this is why Ridley Scott reworked Roy Batty's line in The Final Director's Cut to "I want more life, *Father*" instead of the previous "...F*cker!"

If you think about it, the way the word 'Father' is spoken by both characters -- Batty and Vickers -- is very nearly identical, same intonation...more than a hint of vitriol, with the same underlying subservience and emotional tone of desire to please their 'God the Father', Tyrell and Weyland, respectively. All Scott's robots are fallen angels. If Batty is Lucifer (and I'm pretty sure he is), then Vickers may well be Lilith...

Batty: "I have done...questionable things. ... Nothing the God of Biomechanics wouldn't let you into heaven for..."

Think about what you said: It was *unnecessary* to the line of action that the medpod was programmed only for males. So why *was* it programmed only for males if it was in Vickers' escape-pod-cum-cabin? I noticed this detail when I saw the film in theatre...

Ridley Scott is not haphazard or random in his choice of plot devices. If he purposely goes out of his way to make a specific detail *concrete* -- something that could have been left ambiguous without any break in the action -- then he did so for a *specific purpose*, which will (or will not) be revealed at a future event in the storytelling, depending on whether he chooses to be perverse about it...

I swear, you guys waste so much money going to the theatre and having *no idea whatsoever* what you're watching. I mean, it's all just pretty flashing lights to y'all, right? Whatever became of the ability to think 'beyond the box', to appreciate nuance, to comprehend that a puzzle is being *intentionally* set before you? This movie was never meant for y'all. "Fast and Furious 25", that's y'all's speed...

I swear, you guys waste so much money going to the theatre and having *no idea whatsoever* what you’re watching. I mean, it’s all just pretty flashing lights to y’all, right? Whatever became of the ability to think ‘beyond the box’, to appreciate nuance, to comprehend that a puzzle is being *intentionally* set before you? This movie was never meant for y’all. “Fast and Furious 25″, that’s y’all’s speed…

Dude, she never answers that question!

He asks, 'Are you a robot' and she cocks her head as though considering an answer for a beat or two, and then replies, "My cabin, 15 minutes."

She neither answers in the affirmative nor the negative... like it's a question she *cannot* answer: She can't lie and say 'No' and she can't tell the truth and say 'Yes'.

So, here's a thought experiment:

Maybe the bridge crew -- with nothing better to do but think about how to get her knickers off, and clearly fond of prop wagers -- have figured out that she's a droid and know that she can't answer the question...that her response is *always* gonna be, "Let's have sex to divert your attention away from this line of inquiry."

If so, any time one of the crewmen/women need sexual relief, all they have to do is ask, "Hey, bebby, are you a robot?" and she suddenly develops a case of round heels. The fact that she's...um, 'the queen bitch'...the rest of the time only makes it that much more therapeutic to the rest of the boys and girls when she suddenly becomes sexually permissive...

In short, she's a pincushion, like David is waaay gay. And what does that say about Old Man Weyland (and his buddy Tyrell, in his Liberace dressing gown)?

Maybe she was created to believe she was human. I mean even in a fictional universe like Alien or Blade Runner your not likely to go out on a planet with no oxygen without a suit just because you have a hunch that you might not be human.

I think it'd be a neat idea since it'd play into the idea that the robots in the Alien franchise have more humanity then the human characters would like to believe. Bishop, Ash, Vickers and David would all essentially be slaves to Weyland Yutani

It's not proof of anything, or a script screw up. It was for her father, not her. Remember that the mission wasn't expected to be a dangerous mission, so the only person on the ship who really needed a pod was her father who essentially needed life support as he was near death. Hence it being only calibrated for male. I agree with you that she's very rich and logically should have had her own pod...but again as I stated it wasn't going to be a dangerous mission, it was only expected her father would need it. Little did they know they were all going to die.

She doesn't agree, she actually looks quite startled when he asks her that. Her reaction was quite human. It was also quite human for her to suggest he meet her in her quarters, presumably to have sex. Cyborgs generally don't have sex, unless you're telling me that she NEEDS to have sex to appear human!

I think it's obvious Vickers wasn't a Cyborg just by the way she was acting. Unlike David, who was so obviously a cyborg, she acted human. Albeit, a very cold human, but still human. She did push-ups, she sweat, she cried when speaking to her father (and btw, she was behind closed doors when she cried with him, where her "secret" wouldn't have been revealed to the crew), she had sex, she screamed right before she died...which of course means she felt fear. David had essentially no human emotions at all, and he especially felt no fear. It's not even clear from watching the movie that David even felt anger. Yes, David had his own agenda, but it's not clear he felt anger, at least not in the way humans do. There are, of course, many other examples of her human-like traits in the movie, but those are first to come to mind. Simply put, it's overwhelmingly obvious that Vickers was human. I think that Prometheus teased at a lot of things because it likes to make people think, but viewing the movie objectively, she's human. At any rate, since she died at the end of the movie and was never revealed her to be a cyborg, you have to assume she's human until proven otherwise. But I doubt the next Prometheus sequel is going to re-tread on this topic, so case closed, she was human!
