Pacific Rim Jaws PosterCreatures from the deep are awesome and terrifying. Like the shark in Jaws, or, in a couple of weeks, the Kaiju, the giant monsters from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. One enterprising fan realized that there is a certain thematic connection between these two films, and the result is this pitch-perfect homemade poster.

The image takes the iconic poster for Steven Spielberg’s summer blockbuster and replaces the giant shark with an even larger monster, one that has traveled through an interdimensional rift located on the bottom of the ocean.

The best part of this poster, however, the element that may really make you spit coffee all over your monitor, is what artist Matt Ferguson does with the film’s tag line. When Roy Scheider first lays eyes on the Great White Shark that he, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw, are hunting, his reaction is, “We’re going to need a bigger boat.” In Pacific Rim, scientists create giant mechs called Jaegers in order to combat the Kaiju. Ferguson’s adjusted phrase, “They’re going to need GIANT robots,” is a fantastic play on the original.

Even given the massive amount of posters, banners, viral posters, comics, trailers, TV spots, toys, and more that have been released to hype Pacific Rim, much of which is pretty damn cool, this is something that should be real. Wouldn’t you love to have a framed copy of this on your living room wall?

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman, and opens in 3D and IMAX on July 12.
