With only four short months until the release of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, the giant sea monsters vs. giant robots flick could be one of the biggest movies of the summer season. A few months ago, the first teaser trailer from Pacific Rim was released and genre fans went crazy for its visual style, giant robots and monsters, and kick-ass battle scenes. Check out that first trailer recreated shot-for-shot with a more “low budget” look below:

The good people at Dumb Drum re-created the Pacific Rim trailer, and it’s pretty inventive. Using the swivel chair to re-create the moment where one of the mechs is thrown by a giant Kaiju is a nice touch. Overall, Dumb Drum has done a fine job with their homemade Pacific Rim trailer.

Dumb Drum describes themselves as “just a couple dudes making funny videos and short films.” Bryan Harley and Roque Rodriguez make up the Fresno, California-based duo. They have made other homemade trailer re-creations including Iron Man 3, The Avengers, and The Dark Knight Rises.

Re-making blockbuster trailers is a pretty popular trend on the Internet at the moment. We’ve written about a Star Trek Into Darkness homemade trailer from DustFilms.com, which seems to be the gold standard for this sort of thing. The homemade trailers from Dumb Drum are nice, but they are nowhere near the level of detail and execution as Dust Films manages.

Pacific Rim will hit theaters on July 12th, in 3D and IMAX.
