Pacific RimGuillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim is so close that you can practically smell it. Still, the jerks at Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures insist on tormenting us by releasing posters, banners, commercials, comics, and trailers, one after another, that just tease us because we haven’t seen the movie yet. Things like this new collection of pictures just rub it in that, even though the movie opens on July 12, that’s still more than two weeks away.

Hopefully there is enough in this gallery to tide you over until the movie hits, because this is a ridiculous number of photos. There’s a little bit of everything. All of the key actors are pictured, including Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Clifton Collins Jr., and Burt Gorman.

There are also tons of pictures of the main selling points of Pacific Rim: giant robots, massive monsters, and giant robots fighting massive monsters. All the rest is secondary to this, and really, as long as there is ample mech-versus-creature action, they can do whatever they want with the rest of the movie.

When Kaiju, the film’s monsters, emerge from an interdimensional rift at the bottom of the ocean, the result is less than favorable for the human race. In order to combat this menace, scientists institute the Jaeger Program, which is where the skyscraper-tall robots come from. Controlled by two human pilots, with their brains working in unison, the Jaegers are the last chance for our survival. How that works out for us, we’ll have to wait and see, but we’re damn excited to see the finished product.
