A few weeks ago, science fiction genre fans went crazy for the first trailer of Guillermo del Toro’s giant movie, Pacific Rim. The trailer featured the film’s main draw for genre fans; giant robots duking it out with giant sea monsters. To contrast the grandeur of Pacific Rim’s first trailer, Legendary Films and Warner Bros. have now released an image featuring a pair of its human characters. Featured in the image from Pacific Rim are Rinko Kikuchi and Idris Elba. Kikuchi plays Mako Mori, one of the pilots of the giant Jaeger named “Gipsy Danger.” Idris Elba plays Stacker Pentecost, the commander of the Jaegers. In the image, it appears Stacker (which is the coolest movie name ever) is giving Mori a talking-to in a busy war room.

Gipsy Danger’s second pilot is Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam). Once the two pilot’s minds are synced together, they have the ability to control the Jaeger in any way. The Jaegers then fight alien sea monsters that emerge into the Pacific Ocean through an inter-dimensional rift in the ocean floor. The film will follow Mori and Becket as they learn to work together to become the world’s last hope against the monsters.

Pacific Rim will hit theaters everywhere on July 12, 2013 in IMAX 3D.
