Pacific Rim Comic Con Poster Has A Giant Freakin’ Robot
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures will be hosting some of the most anticipated panels at this year’s Comic-Con. The studio and production company are bringing the cast and filmmakers of The Hobbit, Man of Steel, and, of course, Pacific Rim to San Diego for a series of panels, sneak peeks and interviews. Now Warner Bros. has released the poster for the Pacific Rim panel taking place on July 14th at 2:30PM in the massive Hall H.
The Comic-Con poster shows off just how big the Pacific Rim mechs are when compared to their human pilots. These mechs make the robots in Transformers look like Hobbits by comparison. Last week, set photos of Idris Elba (Prometheus) as the badass Stacker Pentecost (this is the coolest name ever) and mech duo Charlie Hunnam (TV’s Sons of Anarchy) and Rinko Kikuchi (Babel, The Brothers Bloom) were released, adding to the excitement leading up to Pacific Rim‘s Comic-Con appearance.
Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo Del Toro and will be his first film since Hellboy II: The Golden Army back in 2008 (although he worked on The Hobbit for some time before leaving the project). Pacific Rim takes place in the distant future where a multi-dimensional rift has appeared in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, unleashing giant sea monsters and aliens to threaten the Earth. You can expect many battle scenes on the open water and amazing creature design from the mind of Guillermo Del Toro. [Think Battleship, only with giant freakin' robots and actually good. - Ed.]
Pacific Rim will hit theaters on July 12, 2013, and will also feature Ron Perlman, Charlie Day, and Clifton Collins Jr.
